Brief Itinerary

Days 1 & 2 - GUAYAQUIL to CUENCA (2 nts Santa Lucia Hotel or similar; 2B, 2L, 1D ): Land in Guayaquil and meet our expert local guide. After lunch, drive from sea level to the Andes, reaching Cuenca. Stay two nights at a beautifully restored 18th century mansion in the historic heart of the city. Next day, our expert guide shows you the sites, including the stunning cathedral and a private family-run producer of the Panama hat. 

Day 3  - INGAPIRCA + RIOBAMBA (1nt Hacienda Abraspungo or similar, 1B, 1L, 1D):  Leisurely discover the Inca ruins of Ingapirca, followed by lunch. Drive along the excellent highway to Riobamba for an overnight stay in a charming hacienda.

Days 4 & 5 - BANOS  (2 nts Samari Resort & Spa or similar, 2B, 2L):  We stop at a town known for its leather production and design, and also known for artisans that create world-famous tapestries. Continue to Banos to enjoy two nights at a lovely spa resort. Enjoy the services of the spa. A morning guided tour shows you the key sites leaving an afternoon at leisure for your own explorations.

Day 6 - COTOPAXI (1 nt Hacienda Hato Verde or similar, 1B, 1L, 1D):  Leaving Banos, we stop at Quilatoa, a crater that encases a beautiful lake. Option to hike down to the lake (you can hire a donkey to bring you back!). We enjoy lunch on the crater rim then continue to our hacienda, just a short distance from Cotopaxi Reserve

Day 7 - COTOPAXI + HOMEWARD (1B, 1L):  Flights depart Quito late tonight, so we have most of the day to explore. We visit an an-touristy local market (some handicraft stalls, and lots of colour and activity). Continue to Cotopaxi Reserve where you can walk on the flanks of the volcano. Finally, continue to Quito airport.
