Judy Archer

Judy Archer began working at the Zoo in 1994, where she developed the unique, week-long Chevron Zoo School experience, working closely with teachers to integrate the Zoo and environmental education into the curriculum. Judy lived in Ecuador for two years where she worked as a hostess and environmental education specialist for a jungle lodge.

Judy has a B.Ed and taught in Calgary as a science specialist. She completed her masters in environmental science with a focus on environmental education (her thesis was native prairie conservation). Judy has extensive experience in environmental education as a teacher, a naturalist, a Zoo educator, and a university instructor. She is currently leading Community Education programs in the Zoo's Education Department.

Judy loves to learn and to experience new things. “Even when you have been to a place, there is always more to learn and discover”. Judy loves to watch other people’s joy when they experience and discover new things. "It’s fun to get to know new people and to share adventures together and learn together".

One of Judy’s mantras: “to learn from someone who is still learning is to drink from a flowing stream. To learn from someone who has stopped learning is to drink from a stagnant pond”.

Judy has hosted numerous Zoofaris to Peru, Ecuador, Costa Rica, Kenya and Tanzania. She is enthusiastic about both natural history and culture and is looking forward to hosting more Zoofaris, sharing her passion with adventurous travellers on upcoming trips.
