Roger Barry
Roger Barry

An early interest in nature led Roger Barry to join the Canadian Forest Service in 1963. Six years later he became a teacher with the Calgary Board of Education which occupied him until he retired in 1998. In 1978 Roger began to nurture his love of travel with visits to the erstwhile Soviet Union and Czechoslovakia; Mexico, Ecuador, Costa Rica, India, Papua New Guinea, Australia, Jordan, the USA and, so far, over 25 African nations.

Roger has at least 15 trips to Africa under his belt (we've lost count), including a 6 month journey through the continent in 2005/06, and most recently he hosted a sold-out 3 Paw Civilized Adventure through Botswana, Namibia and Zimbabwe (Feb. 2011). He has participated in two predator research projects with the Kenya Wildlife Service. He enjoys anything that involves being outdoors including hiking and viewing wildlife. It is Roger’s tremendous interest in wildlife that draws him back to Africa, again and again. Roger’s many travels have provided him with a deep knowledge of African wildlife and culture.

Coming up: Roger travels with friends to Tanzania in March 2012. If you're interested in joining this trip, please contact Anne at Civilized Adventures: anne@civilizedadv.com.
