Building on 13 years in adventure travel, Denell Falk founded Civilized Adventures in 1994. Since then, Denell has continued a close relationship with the Calgary Zoo, designing their natural-history based Zoofaris. Her enthusiasm, experience and attention to detail continue to bring her success in designing special interest trips for both independent travellers and organizations including the Calgary Zoo, the Jane Goodall Institute of Canada, and the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada (Calgary Centre), as well as for individuals.

Drawing from many rich travel experiences, Denell is an astute critic of what’s worth adding to a trip, and she never stops looking for new and exciting options for our clients. She has led many groups to Africa (from traditional safari-based countries to the mysterious pyramids of Egypt), Asia, the South Pacific, Europe, South and Central America and also to Antarctica. Denell has been hosting groups for over 20 years, including special journeys testing out new experiences. Her most recent "recky" trips included an eye-opening exploration of Papua New Guinea (Sept. 2010) and a walking trip in the foothills of the Indian Himalaya (Jan. 2011).

Denell hosted a sold-out safari to Zimbabwe in Sept. 2011. Some feedback: "This was a fantastic trip. The content was above and beyond our expectations. Seeing gorillas (with an extension to Rwanda) was just "icing on the cake".

Next Up: In 2012, Denell will host trips into India (Feb.), Indochina (Mar.), the Maritimes - on our expedition cruise (July), Zimbabwe (Sept.) and Papua New Guinea (Oct.).
