Les comes to Civilized Adventures with thousands of travel miles under his belt. His insatiable desire to explore more of the world has fuelled trips to many parts of Asia, Europe, North, Central and South America, the Caribbean, and Africa. Indulging a passion for scuba diving - that led to his certification as a master diver - has drawn Les to many of the planet’s most beautiful beaches and reefs. A genuine concern for the Earth and her creatures underlies each quest for new adventure. Over a decade working at the Calgary Zoo has given him first hand experience with, and fostered respect and admiration for, hundreds of species, ranging from the smallest of invertebrates to the largest zoo residents: the Sri Lankan Elephants. Les has been an integral member of the elephant handling team for the last six years. He has combined the knowledge gleaned from his career and travels into a unique perspective that he is eager to share with fellow travellers and adventurers. Les hosted a group of enthusiastic travellers to Botswana in Feb. '06 and will be host of a fantastic Zoofari through Kenya & Tanzania in Jan. '08.
