Why Peru?

Peru’s most famous attraction is Machu Picchu, and with good reason. We recommend you stay for two nights in the area. This allows you to return on your second morning before others arrive from Cusco by train. You’ll feel like you have it all to yourself.

The Sacred Valley, which lies between Cusco and Machu Picchu, is simply beautiful, and worth at least a two-night stay. You’ll visit mountain villages with bustling markets; you’ll explore Inca ruins perched on the slopes of the Andes... you’ll be engulfed in a colourful and vibrant culture that has its roots firmly planted in a fascinating history of fact and myth.

Machu Picchu, the Sacred Valley and Cusco should be at the core of any first trip to Peru.

More time? Options include hiking the Inca Trail, flying into the Amazon basin, driving across the high plains to Lake Titicaca, or perhaps exploring the Colca Canyon. Or... you could consider continuing on to Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands... always a winning combination.
