Brief Itinerary

Botswana presents a true challenge for trip planners and travellers. January thru April is considered the best time for the Nxai Pan, Makgadigkgadi Pan and Central Kalahari Game Reserve areas. Migrating herds move into Nxai Pan as summer rains feed desert grasslands. Many young are born in the desert regions.

July through October offers the most prolific wildlife viewing in the northern regions. Some areas seem to attract wildlife all year round. Wildlife patterns are difficult to predict! Throughout the year, birding is excellent in the delta and on waterways, and since there are permanent water channels in the Okavango Delta year round, you can enjoy that magical delta experience of paddling along quiet waterways in virtual silence!

The Southern Summer (January through April 2010)
High season for the desert, low season for the Delta.
We suggest: Tau Pan - calving season (2 nts) Nxai Pan -
Zebra migration (2 nts), Kwara - animals all year (2 nts),
Lagoon (3 nts), Victoria Falls (2 nts)

Green Season (April thru June 2010, plus November 2010)
Shoulder season in both areas. Good value and good wildlife viewing.
Nxai Pan OR Tau Pan (2 nts), Kwara (2 nts), Lebala (2 nts),
Lagoon (3 nts), Victoria Falls (2 nts)

High Season (July thru October 2010)
High season in the Delta; Low season in the desert.
Water is filling the delta’s waterways, pushing animals toward dry land.
As the season progresses, it gets increasingly hotter as well.
Nxai Pan (2 nts), Kwara (3 nts), Lagoon - stunning in high season (3 nts), Victoria Falls (2 nts)
