Brief Itinerary

Days 1, 2 & 3 - BEIJING (2B, 2L, 1D): Meet and greet by your guide and transfer to your hotel. Over the next 2 days sites visited include: the less-visited Mutianyu section of the Great Wall, the Ming Tombs, Tian’anmen Square and the Forbidden City. Explore the lanes and alleys of “old” Beijing by cyclo-rickshaw, ending your stay as guests of a local family for dinner.

Days 4, 5 & 6 - XI’AN (3B, 3L, 3D): Fly to Xi’an. Have lunch, then see the sites: The Bell Tower, the ancient City Wall with option to cycle on the wall. Traditional dumpling dinner tonight.
Day 5: See the Terra Cotta Warriors and have lunch. Free time until a special dinner that included a Tang Dynasty show.
Day 6: see the Great Mosque, Wild Good Pagoda and the Shaanxi Museum (closed Mondays).

Days 7 & 8 - LIJIANG (2B, 1L, 1D): Fly via Kunming to Lijiang and transfer to your hotel. Day 8: Visit Shuhe and Baisha - two ancient and remote villages. Wander the cobblestone streets and search local shops for handicrafts in old Lijiang, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Days 9 & 10 - ZHONGDIAN (2B, 2L, 2D): Drive via Tiger Leaping Gorge (on the Yangtse) to Zhongdian, a town with strong Tibetan heritage.See Songzanlin - a Tibetan monastery, and Napa Hai, a lake 3,000 meters above sea level.Visit a local Tibetan family. See the ancient city of Zhongdian.

Day 11 - GUILIN (B, D): Fly via Kunming to Guilin, one of China’s most scenic areas.

Days 12 & 13 - YANGSHOU (2B, 2L, 2D): Cruise the Li River to Yangshou on Day 12 and explore this quaint town on your own.
Day 13: morning bicycle trip into the beautiful countryside (best in Spring/Fall when it is cooler).

Days 14, 15 & 16 - SHANGHAI (3B, 2L, 2D):
Fly to Shanghai and transfer to your hotel and then to dinner. Sites include the peaceful Yu Gardens, the old city Centre. Cruise the Huangpu River for great views of the city.
Day 16 is for your own explorations.

Day 17 - HOMEWARD (B): Transfer to the airport or extend your journey.

Cost is per person, based on a minimum of 2 people travelling together following our sample itinerary. Single rooms are available for a supplement. Your costs may differ depending on departure date, availability, group size and what you include in your final tailored itinerary. Larger parties may benefit from cost savings; please inquire. Black-out dates apply. We suggest travel to China in April/May/September/October/November. June is usually rainy; July/August is hot.
