Brief Itinerary

Days 1 & 2 - DELHI (2B, 2L, 2D): Land in Delhi; meet and greet by your guide and transfer to your hotel. Dinner and overnight at your hotel. Next day tour old and new Delhi (various sites) including lunch.

Days 3 & 4 - VARANASI (2B, 2L, 2D): Fly to Varanasi. Sites/activities include: the 18th century Ramnagar Fort (ancestral home of the Maharajah of Benares); sunset boat ride on the Ganges including witnessing a nightly Aarti (prayer) ceremony; visit Sarnath (where Buddha first preached), a reputable silk factory and Benares University Museum.

Day 5 - KHAJURAHO (B, L, D): Dawn boat ride on the Ganges then walk through “old Varanasi” back to the hotel for breakfast. Fly to Khajuraho. Late afternoon tour of the famous temples plus Sound & Light Show.

Days 6, 7 & 8 - BANDHAVGARH (3B, 3L, 3D): Drive to Bandhavgarh. Enjoy 6 safari outings in search of Royal Bengal Tigers and other wildlife.

Day 9 - Khajuraho (B, L, D): After your last safari excursion, drive back to Khajuraho.

Day 10 - ORCHA (B, L, D): Drive ~ 4 hours to Orcha, stopping for lunch at Alipura Palace. Afternoon rafting trip on the slow Betwa river. Evening Aarti ceremony at Ram Raja Temple.

Days 11 & 12 - AGRA (2B): Morning exploration of the ornate palaces and temples of Orcha, then take the evening train to Agra. Witness sunrise over the Taj Mahal. Later visit Agra Fort and workshops of marble carvers to observe craftsmen at their age-old craft.

Days 13, 14 & 15 - JAIPUR (3B, 3L, 3D): Drive to Jaipur with a stop at the deserted, intact city of Fatehpur Sikri. Next morning visit the City Palace Museum and the royal observatory (Jantar Mantar).Next morning enter the hilltop Amber Fort on elephant back and explore the halls, palaces and gardens. Afternoons on Days 14 & 15 are at leisure.

Day 16 - DELHI (B, L): Drive to Delhi. Evening is at leisure.

Day 17 - HOMEWARD (B): Transfer to the airport, marking the end of your adventure in India!

Domestic flights have been excluded since they vary from ~US$200-$500 depending on availability.
