Brief Itinerary
Jan. 3 & 4: Fly to Buenos Aires. Arrive on Jan. 4; transfer to our 4-star hotel. Afternoon city tour.
Jan. 5: Buenos Aires. Optional Estancia tour. Dinner and Tango Show. (B, D)
Jan. 6: Ushuaia. Fly to the “southernmost city in the world”. Transfer to our central, 4-star hotel.
Jan 7: Ushuaia. Board the ship and begin your adventure as you weigh anchor and sail down the Beagle Channel. (B, L, D)
The expedition itinerary is deliberately flexible, and will be decided upon by your expedition leader and the ship’s captain, depending on ice and weather conditions. We outline a general routing that will be adjusted given local conditions. The goal is to maximize time on shore and your wildlife viewing.
Jan. 8 - At Sea. Sail eastwards to the Falkland Islands. Watch for seabirds, dolphins and whales. We will begin viewing “at-sea presentations”. (B, L, D)
Jan. 9 & 10 - Falkland Islands. Shore excursions; walking opportunities. (2B, 2L, 2D)
Jan.11/12/13 - At Sea. More informative presentations. (3B, 3L, 3D)
Jan.14/15/16 - South Georgia. 3 days to explore, with stops at the huge penguin colonies and Shackleton’s last resting place. (3B, 3L, 3D)
Jan. 17 - At Sea. Sail to the South Orkney Islands. More presentations. (B, L, D)
Jan. 18 - South Orkney Islands. South Orkney Islands (ice conditions permitting). (B, L, D)
Jan. 19 - At Sea. Sail to the Shetland Islands and Antarctica. Presentations. (B, L, D)
Jan.20/21/22 - Antarctic Peninsula. Sail in protected waters and discover towering icebergs, ice-draped landscapes and abundant wildlife. (3B, 3L, 3D)
Jan. 23 & 24 - At Sea. Sail back to South America. Presentations and wrap-up. Captain’s dinner. (2B, 2L, 2D)
Jan. 25 - Ushuaia. Disembark and transfer to airport. Fly via Buenos Aires to home. Overnight flights mean you’ll arrive home on Jan. 26. (B)
