Discover South Africa (13 days)

Tour Overview

Flanked by the Indian and Atlantic Oceans, South Africa's Western Cape province boasts some of the continent's most spectacular coastline with incredible scenic beauty. It is blessed with unparalleled botanical splendour, ranging from the extensive Cape Winelands to indigenous forests and – most characteristic of all – the fynbos species, 70% of which are endemic. The tapestry of cultural diversity is evident in the range of cuisine, architecture, museums and historical landmarks. Cape Town has perhaps the most beautiful setting of any city in Africa, dominated by the unmistakable shape of Table Mountain – a vast natural phenomenon rearing up above the cosmopolitan city.

Our varied and easypaced journey beginsvvwith game viewing at Addo and Schotia, explores the dramatic coastline and forests of the Garden Route, ventures into the arid hinterland at Oudtshoorn and then ends at Cape Town. Journey times have been kept to a minimum and we normally stay two or three full days at each nightstop, allowing plenty of time to discover the area fully. The itinerary includes a wide range of activities and there are plenty of opportunities for doing more on an optional basis, depending on your family's interests (and energy levels!) Note: the Cape is considered a malaria free area and therefore offers the chance to view African wildlife without the need to take malarial prophylaxis.
