Ghana

Ghana: Kingdom of the Ashanti
(15 days)

Tour Overview

Throughout the ages, Ghana has made Europeans rich from its gold, ivory and slave trade, however today it has much to offer the traveller wishing simply to enjoy and learn about one of the friendliest West African nations. This tour touches the heartbeat of West Africa, where these striking Africans have a diverse and rich culture in a beautiful land. Animistic beliefs are intermingled with the Christian south and Islamic north, giving Ghana its own unique attitude to life.

These happy, colourful people are naturally hospitable and receive all with warmth and sincerity. They love to party and even a funeral is a happy occasion, celebrating a person's life and movement on to the next world rather than their death in this one. Visiting two wildlife sanctuaries, we hope to see some of West Africa's diverse wildlife. There is also the opportunity of walking on a rainforest canopy. From vibrant markets, to mud/stick mosques, Ghana is a country of surprises waiting to be discovered. We travel by bus and boat and stay in a variety of accommodation.
