Our goal is to offer the discriminating traveller special-interest itineraries to exciting destinations. Our main focus is natural history. We try to get away from the crowds to bring you more intense gameviewing and cultural experiences. For instance, in Ecuador, we charter our own vessels to sail the Galapagos, seeking out the best naturalists for our group and in Africa we may even set up our own camps (with all comforts), allowing us to go where others can't.

Our greatest consideration is of course you, the traveller. We personally inspect properties and meet with local operators and guides before offering a destination. Where possible, we look for "heritage" properties, such as haciendas in Ecuador, and palaces in India. We listen to your feedback and appreciate your input, and, perhaps most importantly, we travel in small groups usually ranging from 8 to 18 people (depending upon the destination).

Working with organizations such as the Calgary Zoo and the Royal Astronomical Society, as well as private groups, Civilized Adventures has developed numerous trips to Botswana, Namibia, South Africa, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Egypt, Jordan, Ecuador, Peru, Costa Rica, Belize, Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Vanuatu, India, Nepal, Borneo, Thailand, Singapore, Hong Kong, China, and Tibet. Recent additions include expedition cruises to the Arctic and Antarctic; horticultural tours to Holland, South Africa and Seattle; cultural explorations of Italy, Vietnam and Cambodia; gorilla tracking safaris in Uganda and Rwanda; and equestrian safaris in Botswana.
